Changes to 2009 Refuse Schedule
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Dear Woodbury Resident:

I am writing this letter to inform you of some changes that will take effect on January 1, 2009 for the Garbage and Recycling Schedule.  Please read the following carefully, so we can make this as smooth a transition as possible.

As some of you may not be aware, the present Carting Company, County Waste, will no longer be contracted with the Town, as their contract has expired. After advertising and receiving several bids from various companies, the Town has accepted the Bid offered by Interstate Waste.

Interstate Waste (IWS) does not have the automated service that County Waste had.  Garbage removal will be picked up manually.  What this means is that the garbage cans that were given to the homeowners will be removed by County Waste starting on the last pick up of this 2008 year. Place all garbage cans that you have at curb side on the last pick up day of the year, regardless of whether they are full or not. Some homes have several garbage cans, and all must be returned. This process may take a week or two to complete, so we ask for your patience during this time.

Also because the garbage pickup will now be manual, you may need to purchase your own garbage cans with a maximum 35 gallon capacity, not to exceed 5 cans. As always, all containers must be tightly secured with a lid.

There will be some changes to the scheduling of pick up as well.  There will no longer be a “Bulk” pick up at the end of the month.  One Bulk item can be put out on the same day as your garbage pickup, not to exceed “One Cubic Yard”.   The West side of Route 32 will have garbage and bulk pickup on Tuesdays.   The East side of Route 32 will now have garbage pickup on Fridays, along with the bulk.  Recycling will now be on Wednesdays for the entire Town. The last monthly bulk pickup for 2008 will be Saturday December 27.   The new bulk schedule will go into effect starting the week of January 5, 2009. Hang up a copy of the new schedule (see below) somewhere you can refer to it so there will be no confusion.

As I stated above, these changes will be effective on January 1, 2009, and a complete schedule will be sent to all residents in the Refuse District. We appreciate your cooperation during this time and we will do all we can to insure that the service you have come accustomed to will not be interrupted.

For any other information or questions, call the Refuse Department at (845) 928-6684.

Sincerely,

Sheila Beadle
